Umani Hotel

Umani Hotel is located in close proximity to the Golden Sands Nature Park near Varna, in a property with panoramic views of the Black Sea. The plot has a significant slope from west to east, surrounded by a pristine landscape with valuable tree species and natural rock formations. The concept of the project is to create a contextual building that delicately fits into the natural environment that looks light, airy and unobtrusive. A building that works alongside all elements of the landscape and emphasizes its natural beauty without dominating.

The simplified form of the building is entirely subject to the concept of preserving the natural features of the property – a strictly orthogonal rectangular prism, perched between the tall trees and the massive rocks, without disturbing the dense greenery. In order to obtain even greater mimicry, the design of the façades is completely solved in vertical slats of Finnish thermowood, which encircle the entire structure. Dynamics is brought by subtracting from the volume in several places where loggias are formed and which are emphasized by the clean line of the glass.

The clear floor plans and the maximally large windows of the hotel rooms allow them to change their view in height – from the richness of the greenery to the endless expanse of the sea horizon that is gradually showing. Umani Hotel, in the name of which the human being is rooted, influences in a humane way, not only because of its delicate intervention, but also because of the tranquillity it brings in terms of atmosphere and experience.
